It has been a busy summer, filled with lots of activities with the boys, trips, growing a garden, going to the zoo, and trying to do some relaxation. Logan finished up baseball at the end of June--a sport that I know he just loves. His buddy was on his team as well, so that made it even more enjoyable.
Both boys were in swimming throughout the summer, which was stressful at first. Both boys had a hard time getting in the pool the first few days, but at the end of the summer they were little fish. Logan attended a summer camp in our district that focused on math and reading. It was a huge success! Everything clicked with reading and writing as he enters first grade.
This summer we also celebrated Bennet's 4th birthday. Our house was full of kids and family, a jumper in the yard, and great weather! At his checkup, he has grown 1 1/2 inches and a few pounds. But I think he is starting to do some growing now, as his pants are getting shorter and shoes are smaller.
Here are some fun pics of our trips to the zoo. The zoo brought in new Africa animals, as well as Dinosaurs. The boys loved the Dinosaurs area. Bennet wasn't so sure at first, but after he figured it out that they were robots, he was ok with them and searched for them.
Just before school started we ventured out and bought new clothes. Two weeks later, most of Logan's clothing doesn't fit. The child has grown 2 inches this summer! But he still seems so little. Especially as he starts football and the other players are so big compared to him. He does look big in his football gear, but tiny underneath. His team is the Buccaneer's, which he wasn't too happy to be on since it's not the Vikings. But he is learning a lot (when he is paying attention) and having lots of fun. He tried out for the QB position, but tonight they had try outs and he didn't make the cut. The coaches chose more 2nd graders for the QB's as they are more skilled and it's only fair. Maybe next year. So the coaches are having Logan play defensive end tackle, running back, and guard. They try to have players in each position. It's very interesting to watch.
Soccer has also started, and both boys are playing in that sport. Saturday morning are pretty crazy as I go field to field and try to watch both boys. Jeremy is coaching Bennet's team this fall, so Logan is on his own with a new coach. Bennet is so funny to watch, as he runs with his entire body and doesn't take anything from anyone on the field. He made a goal the first game, so he was pretty proud to do so well. Logan enjoys soccer as well, but I think he just likes to run and kick the ball (more of a defensive player). Or a goalie...
