Bennet turned six months a week ago (on the 13th) and I'm now just getting to tell you all about it! It has been a very productive month though for him. Bennet had his 6 month checkup on the 15th. He has grown over an inch since 4 months--he is now 26 1/2 inches long! He is still a peanut with his weight (its all that puking that keeps him from gaining a ton of weight). He weighs 16 lbs 2 ounces. His doctor still compares him on both charts (normal and preemie). For the preemie charts, Bennet is 89% for length; 80% head; 60% weight. On the normal charts he is similar but just a little lower. The worst part, Bennet had to get 5 shots plus a drink! The poor thing was just traumatized! And of course, when he gets his shots, he gets a reaction. The next morning he woke up with a temp of 101. Jeremy's turn to stay home with him. That was Tuesday he had to stay home. On Thursday night we got a phone call from the pediatrician saying that he was approved for his last RSV shot....which means two more shots in those tiny thighs of his, but it's worth the pain for a minute. We are hearing of too many cases of RSV and are very thankful that Bennet is being protected by these shots!
That night to our surprise, Bennet has gotten his first toother! It has been torturing him for such a long time, we are happy that it finally came out. Of course, Friday afternoon he is running a low-grade temp from it. So on top of the temp, he gets his two shots! Poor thing. He is getting the tooth next door, which is causing him a lot of pain. He's not wanting to drink his bottles very much, as well as is fussier than normal. He is our easy baby (well, Logan was very easy too). It's not fun though when your baby is not happy and in lots of pain.
Sunday afternoon was another success for Bennet. He FINALLY rolled over from his tummy to his back. Being a preemie, he doesn't have much upper body strength, and along with all of his puking, he's not a fan of the tummy. It makes him puke more. But, I placed him on his tummy so that I could make him a bottle, and to my dismay he was on his back. I thought it was a fluke, so I made him go on his tummy again to see if he could do it again, and sure enough he did it! When we got home from up north we showed daddy to our big event! He's now a pro at it!
