catch of the day

This morning Jeremy took Logan ice fishing for the first time. They took part in a local youth tourney for the smallest fish, the most creative bait, and the longest fish. This would be Logan's first time fishing experience. He's thrown a few casts out on Lake Marion with a rubber fish on the end of his line, but nothing where he actually had to sit and wait for the fish to bite.
Logan was pretty excited to just be out on a lake and enjoy the experience of fishing. He's an easy-going kid like his daddy who enjoys being outdoors. They weren't getting any bites until Jeremy noticed the bobber moving around. He decided to check the bait on the hook and this is what he found....

a 2.75 inch crappie. If you can't see it, zoom in and you will see the blob on the ruler is an actual fish. The judge started to laugh along with Jeremy because neither really haven't seen such a small fish. Minnows are bigger than this fish. Logan was extatic about catching a fish, no matter the size. He called it his 'baby' fish. Needless to say......this is what Logan received for catching the smallest fish....possibly on record for this tournament.

Logan came home with his first trophy ever.....and it was for the smallest fish ever. We're hoping he doesn't expect a trophy everytime he goes fishing. Who knows if he will ever catch a fish as small again, but it's pretty darn hilarious and priceless. He came home to show off his trophy. Placed it on his dresser while he napped. Woke up and brought it down for us to see again. He even showed if off to the neighbors, Bri and Rach. Gotta love it though.
