ENT

Logan had his appt with the ENT this afternoon. Jeremy and I were hoping that things would turn out well for Logan. We've noticed a change in his language (talking more and more now) which is a good sign.
As we were driving there Logan was wondering where we were going, so we told him we were off to see the doctor. Here is our conversation:
L: mama, ome?
M: no, we are going to see the doctor.
L: doctor?
M: Yep, he's going to look in your ears again to see if they are clear.
L: eez? (as he's digging in his ears with his fingers)
M: yep.
L: mama? ome?
we continued this repetition the entire way there. He wasn't nervous about going as long as he knew he was going home afterwards.
When we got there they took him back to the hearing testing area. He sat on Jeremy's lap in this sound-proof room that would test his hearing. It was so funny to watch him through the window. You could see him laugh at the animals when they appeared after hearing the sound, or talking instead of listening. Overall, he did pretty well. She said that his hearing is in the normal range, but at the low end, which is probably due to all of the infections he's been battling. It did show that it was going up, so that was good news. We passed the first round.
Round two, we sat in this tiny waiting area for 30 minutes doing nothing. Then we were escorted back to a room and sat there for another 30 minutes. We waited over an hour and 20 minutes to see the doctor for 5 minutes. Frustrating when you have a tired toddler.
The doctor checked his ears and said that they were clear! They looked great he said. His suggestion: no tubes yet. Especially if they are looking good. However, if Logan gets another infection within a month....tubes. If he gets an infection in the fall, doesn't seem like it really is clearing up....tubes. He thinks it could have been a bad episode of infections that we went through and hopes that it won't come back.
I feel good about the appt but was irritated about sitting there for 2 hours for a 5 minute conversation. Oh well, as long as my baby is on the road to recovery and has no permanent damage, I'm okay with the final decision. Cross your fingers for no more infections.
