34 weeks

Yeah!!! We did it! I made it to our first goal of 34 weeks. We've had quite the past few days, but through lots of determination we succeeded. There's lots to post so I will try not to be so long-winded.
Over the weekend we found out that the preterm labor test came back positive. After hearing that, we started to scramble and get things ready around the house as much as we could w/o going overboard. The doctor also suggested that I take things really easy until my appt today. And to be on the safe side, she ordered a shot for baby b's lungs that day just in case I went into labor within the next few days. I went in that Saturday afternoon and got my first of two shots. Quick and easy. Well, Saturday night I started getting contractions. Took the meds and they seemed to go away. At two am, they came back. I took more meds, but unfortunately they came back again at 4:15. I couldn't take anymore meds b/c you can only have them every six hours. So poor Logan had to wake up at 5:00am and head to the "baby doctor" with us. We got there and they hooked me up to all the monitors. Baby b was doing just fine. Active, had the hiccups, and had a healthy, strong heartbeat. After seeing a few of my contractions (they said they looked like "intense ones", which I had to agree with b/c they were) they gave me a shot to help them stop. It seemed to slow them down both in intensity and frequency, but then after an hour they started to come back again. I was privileged to get another wonderful shot after awhile, and thankfully they seemed to go away. This shot makes you jumpy, shaky and agitated. All great qualities you want to have early in the morning. And since I was in, they decided to give me my last shot for baby b's lungs. Then I wouldn't have to come back after a few hours. By 9:00am we were heading home and things were under control.
Thankfully my doctor was on-call that morning, so she came and visited with us before we were let go. We were a little nervous about having baby b so early, but she reassured us that if he decided to come, he would at least be 5 lbs and healthy. He would have to stay in the NICU for a week or so, but otherwise no major health issues. That made us feel a little better, but we still aren't quite ready for his arrival. Due to this concern, she wanted me on strict bed rest in the basement until today, just to be safe. I also had to take my meds on a regular basis to prevent any further contractions. All that effort paid off. I felt fine all day Sunday and Monday, having no major issues.
This morning was my 34 week appt and she said all is well. There were no changes from the weekend. I am dilated to a 1 and 30% effaced. I'm measuring right at 34 weeks and his heartrate was at 160. He must be very excited about something! Baby b's head in not engaged or "locked in," so another great sign that he's just not quite ready either. I think my boys like to torture me while I'm pregnant. Tease me in thinking they want to come early but then decide to wait for awhile. Since things haven't changed, I am off of my bed rest and back up to my bed and in the normal part of the house. No major shopping sprees quite yet, but I'm able to go get my hair cut and colored this Friday. It will be the highlight of my week. I also have family coming every day to help us out with Logan. I'm not allowed to be alone with him in case something does happen, which is fine. I like having my adult conversations! Don't' get me wrong, Logan keeps me busy and entertained all day long, which I just love too. It is nice though to hang out with the adults though:) This weekend Jeremy's mom is flying in to be with us for 10 days, as well as my parents. Jeremy and my dad are going to the Twins game on Saturday, something they are both looking forward to. I think Jeremy needs to get out more than anyone:)
I lied and got winded, sorry. I guess lots of info to share. Hopefully the next post will be some pictures of Logan having fun and none of this preterm stuff.
